Kouwenhoven is veroordeeld voor oorlogsmisdaden die hij in het begin
van dit millennium beging. Liberia en Charles Taylor zijn feiten uit
het verleden die mensen jonger dan 25 jaar niet bewust meer hebben
meegemaakt. Mensen ouder dan die kwart eeuw kunnen de beelden van
verminkten en gedrogeerde kindsoldaten moeilijk vergeten of hebben er
(uit zelfbehoud) van weggekeken. Rechterlijke molens malen traag en
Van Kouwenhoven gaat tegen de uitspraak in cassatie bij het Europese
Hof zodat hij nog langer zal duren. Het is zaak de medeplichtigheid
van een Nederlander aan die gruwelijkheden niet te vergeten. Al is
het maar om bij het zien van een film die in het Liberia van die tijd
speelt, te weten dat Nederlanders niet vanzelfsprekend beter zijn en
