Wapenhandel met het jaarlijkse wapenexportrapport over het voorgaande
jaar, 2016. Nederland
blijft wapens leveren aan controversiële landen. Kritisch, maar
ook gematigd positief over het beleid van de overheid bij het
controleren van wapenexporten. Uit de inleiding:
“Het
wapenexportbeleid in 2016 laat zien dat de regering een aantal
duidelijke keuzes heeft gemaakt; er zijn meer vergunningaanvragen
voor wapenexport afgewezen dan voorgaande jaren. Met name de situatie
in Turkije en de oorlog in Jemen baren zorgen en dat is gedeeltelijk
terug te zien in het afwijzingsbeleid. Niet consequent is dat soms
weer wel een exportvergunning wordt afgegeven, ook voor landen waar
andere vergunningen geweigerd zijn op grond van bijvoorbeeld het
Mensenrechtencriterium. Zo zijn er naar Turkije heel wat vergunningen
geweigerd, maar ook heel wat vergunningen wel afgegeven (zie
verderop).“
